De combinatie ENUM & SIP betekent de inlossing van de belofte van een revolutie voor de telecom- en internetwereld. Zowel aanbieders van mobiele als vaste verbindingen beginnen hun internetdiensten te bundelen met op SIP gebaseerde communicatie. Spraak wordt toegevoegd als een van de vele applicaties over het Internet. Wanneer op lange termijn mobiele en vaste diensten samen komen, blijft vanuit het bestaande telefoonnetwerk (PSTN, ofwel public switched telephone network) alleen nog het telefoonnummer (de zg. E.164 nummering) over als standaard. De diensten zijn dan al getransformeerd, want bij spraak alleen blijft het niet: videoconferencing, instant messaging, text-to-speech conversie (bijvoorbeeld in het kader van live ondertiteling van beeldtelefonie voor dove internetgebruikers) maar ook allerhande nog te ontwikkelen webservices worden via ENUM en SIP op een direct toepasbare manier mogelijk.

De Future of VoIP conferentie wordt georganiseerd door ISOC.nl en AG Next en biedt inzicht in de twee protocollen (ENUM & SIP) die deze revolutie mogelijk maken. Tijdens de dag maakt u kennis met daadwerkelijke implementaties van deze protocollen uit binnen- en buitenland - van stand-alone telefoontoestel tot (open source) software voor eindgebruikers en dienstenleveranciers. De conferentie wordt gehouden in de aula van de Koninklijke Bibliotheek (Prins Willem-Alexanderhof 5) in Den Haag.

Een aantal topsprekers uit het Europese veld geven inleidingen in ENUM en SIP, samen met de showcases en demonstraties. Daarmee bent u in een klap op de hoogte van de belangrijkste voordelen en knelpunten van het uitrollen van diensten gebaseerd op deze combinatie van technologieen. De bijeenkomst is daarnaast een ontmoetingsplaats voor gebruikers en dienstverleners die keuzes aan het maken zijn in deze nieuwe richting.

The Future of VoIP

ENUM and SIP are revolutionizing the telecom sector and the internet by merging their services into a global network. Mobile operators as well as landline providers start bundling Internet access with SIP based communications. Voice becomes another application over the Internet. On the long term, from the existing telephoney network (PSTN, or public switched telephone network) only the phone numbers will remain (to be exact, the E.164 numbering plan) while mobile and fixed services will converge in the same terminal.

The Future of VoIP conference is organized by ISOC Netherlands and AG Next and provides insight of two of the main protocols (ENUM and SIP) that make this revolution possible and presents showcases of actual implementation based on them. The conference will take place in the aula of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (Prins Willem-Alexanderhof 5) in The Hague.

The combined ENUM/SIP tutorials held by renowned European specialists in these fields, the showcases and demonstrations will help analyzing the pros and cons of rolling out services based on these technologies and help in the decision making of the service providers and customers moving in this new direction.
